Abstract
The relation between economic growth and regional differentiations in the Argentine historical experience of the 19th and 20th centuries refers to a problem regularly visited by the academic literature. Particularly, the disparity between the pampean and extra-pampean regions originated the interest of specialists, concerned in identifying the characteristics of non-equivalent or asymmetric processes. This, with the object of drawing some type of an interpretative economic (and politic) map, that considers the limits of the Argentine growth opposing to the richness –mostly of Buenos Aires– and of the pampean region, the economic deterioration of the “Interior”. The goal of this article is contributing to the priorly announced debate, offering statistical indicators of the personal composition and distribution of the field richness in the province of Mendoza, toward 1870. Said indicators allow taking into account aspects not very much regarded of the microregional differentiations previous to the agro-industrial and viticultural transformation by the turn of the 19th century.
