Abstract

In 2016, the arrival in the government of the candidate of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB), Michel Temer, represented the radicalization of the neoliberal economical model in Brazil. Amid the political and economic crises experienced during that period, this arrival was accompanied by a speech in which the government would be able to reverse the economic recession, promoting the fiscal balance that was once compromised in previous governments, thus ensuring the recovery of the economy and the labor market. In this article, we intend to analyze the fundamentals of this government's economic policy, present in the document Uma Ponte para o Futuro, and verify, by the end of the mandate, the results of such experiment to the economy and the labor market.
