Abstract

This article discusses the behavior of disentailment of mortmain in the Sovereign State of Bolivar through the analysis of auctions and real estate sales, ecclesiastical census and livestock. Given that the disamortization was a national policy in the United States of Colombia, the Bolivar state is compared with each of the sovereign states that made up the Union in order to determine, first the link between regional autonomy and centralized measures, and secondly, how the disentailment of mortmain process was operated and who were the “new” owners after this reform.
