Ingenios habaneros del siglo XVIII: mundo agrario interior
Main Article Content
Abstract
In XVIII century Cuba, land, work and mill installations were considered the most important productive elements on the ingenio. This was particularly relevant in the case of the land, mainly because its fertility depended on its production. The study shows the physical and organizational characteristics of the ingenio. It explains the elimination of the stock land in order to convert it into sugar production estates. It also analyzes the speculation, prices, selling, buying, renting and taxes levied on these lands. It tries to elucidate if the sugar estate was self-sufficient.
